You have just come to our office to check the progress of healing. Normal "soft tissue" healing takes 7 days for cut ends to begin to hold together without any assistance from sutures (when you heal correctly and axe not a diabetic or hypoglycemic or a smoker or alcoholic, etc.). Full soft tissue healing takes 4 more days under normal, average circumstances.
HELPFUL HINTS:
1. After the sutures have been removed DO YOURSELF A FAVOR and, apply a Q-tip soaked with Hydrogen Peroxide 3% very gently to the healing area. Leave alone for three minutes, then rinse with warm salt (water (not a wives tale--- it really works!) Do this AT LEAST 3 times' daily... .NOTE: the food that the stitches catch-after 7-days retards healing--- so now that they're out, go to town! Be a clean freak! Your body will thank you for it.
2. If you have dentures, take them out at night. If you have the urge to eat hard, abrasive foods for the next two weeks---DON'T, especially on the side that's healing.
3. If you want to supplement with vitamin C 1000mg, do it--- it will
help.
